Marlon Peterson
My style spotlights thus far have always been special or personal to me in some way shape or form. This months feature is no different albeit unexpected. Marlon and I have known each other since high school. I wouldn't even do him the proper justice to try and summarize an intro that speaks to who he is and all he's accomplished since then. He's inspirational to say the very least and someone to keep an eye on. To say I'm proud to even know him is an understatement. He's motivation personified and today you get to meet him too.
Name: Marlon Peterson
Age : 40
Home: Brooklyn, NY
Occupation: Writer, Host of DEcarcerated Podcast, and owner and president of The Precedential Group consultancy
QD: First and as always thank you so much for letting me pick your brain on style. No need for fluff, lets jump right in! Tell me 1st what 3 words you'd use to describe your personal style. I know it's evolved in a major way since we 1st met.
Marlon: I'd call my personal style comfortable, urban and debonair.
QD: : Debonair, I Iike that. So tell me, who/what inspires you style wise and why?
Marlon: My father’s suit game definitely inspires my sense of style. I think a connection to the streets and it’s possibilities for growth and elegance also goes into my personal style.
QD: I love menswear and the ability to mix in some street with elegance will always be head turning to me. That's real style, love that answer. So tell me what would I see in your closet, what are your go-to-pieces/closet staples?
Marlon: Anything with a hoodie. I love hoodies. I can rock them with a suit, jeans, whatever. I also have an addiction to Air Force 1’s
QD: Blazers and hoodies is one of my fav looks when done well. My hoodie collection is pretty serious too, they're definitely more versitile now than they've ever been. Now next question, what style advice would you give to younger you?
Marlon: You were made to stand out. Accept it.
QD: Simple but so real. Even in adulthood I feel like people are still learning this. I'm loving your answers for real, but I'll wrap up with one last question. So lastly, tell me what is the best style advice you've ever gotten?
Marlon: That's easy, “Wear what you like and don’t follow every trend.” My father.
QD: FACTS! Thank you so much again Marlon for being such and easy choice to feature. I appreciate it!
